Real Madrid playmaker Eden Hazard was on target as Belgium took a major step towards qualifying for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament from the European section with a big win over the Czech Republic. He was one of the goalscorers as Belgium beat visitors Czech Republic 3-0 at home in a Group E clash played on Sunday.
Eden Hazard scored the second goal for Belgium four minutes before the interval to add to the opening goal of the game for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku. Lukaku was able to celebrate his century of appearances for his country with the first goal against the Czechs on eight minutes. AC Milan fullback Alexis Saelemaekers wrapped up the points for Belgium with the third goal midway through the second half.
In the other Group E game on Sunday, Wales got the better of hosts Belarus in a five-goal thriller thanks to the brilliance of star player Gareth Bale. The Real Madrid forward scored all three goals for Wales in a 3-2 win. The win over Belarus took Wales to within one point of the Czech Republic on the group standings though they have played two games more. Wales are in third place on the log with six points from three matches, while the Czech Republic are in second place with seven points from five matches. Wales and the Czech Republic are in a direct battle for the second spot in the group with Belgium clear at the top of the standings.
Eden Hazard and Belgium are at the top of the group with 13 points from five matches ahead of their meeting with hosts Belarus on Wednesday night. In the other Group E game scheduled forWednesday night, Wales will take on Estonia at home knowing that a win will take them above Czech Republic and into second place on the standings.
